WHAT??
Yes you read me correctly! I believe that copying other peoples work and creations is one of the very best ways to discover your creative voice.
Not only is it helpful to look at composition, perspective and methodology of other artists, it allows you a chance to discover what you enjoy the most (or even hate the most) creatively.
I am not the only one who believes this – Austin Kleon wrote a book called ‘Steal like an Artist’. In this mind blowing (for me at least) book he discusses the best and worst ways to ‘steal’ – it’s a short book and well worth a read if you are interested.
So this week you are going to steal like an artist and you are going to dissect what we love and hate in regards to art, and then you will put it all back together in an attempt to figure out your creative voice.
Also this week you have a little bonus pdf with a very (very) brief explanation of colour theory.
