For years now I have been called to create my own Oracle Cards.
But it wasn’t until 2023 that I felt that I had the skills, the time and the passion to start this project.
I knew when I started the project it would be a long one. I also knew that this was going to test my determination and will power.
During the painting process I have struggled with how I wanted to present the cards – how would I share it with everyone, what was the format for the booklet going to be, was there even going to be a booklet?
I even submitted the idea to a publisher, but my ideas were a hot mess so I am not surprised that I received a very nice ‘no thanks’ letter!
And I know that because of that lack of knowing and focus, I struggled with even finishing the project.
When April rolled around and I still hadn’t painted an Oracle in 2024, I knew I needed to hold an intervention for myself.
And during this soul searching I realised a few things:
- DID I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE ORACLE WAS WHEN IT WAS BEING PAINTED?
Sometimes like my normal paintings, I knew exactly what the painting was trying to say, other times, I just went with the flow and trusted what emerged in the painting, knowing that the right name would come to me afterward. - DID I NEED TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING IN THE BOOKLET?
Nope. Not yet anyway! I have some ideas but I was absolutely overthinking the entire thing. Partly this was because I am dyslexic and wanted it to be perfect but it was also because I wanted to include EVERYTHING! I needed to do a big self-edit! - DID I WANT TO FINISH THE PROJECT?
This was a resounding hell yes! Like my wee beasties and my soul mantras, I knew with a soul-deep knowing that I needed to do this project and finish it.
And here we are, nearly at the end of the painting stage, with four paintings to go.
And four paintings left means that stage one is almost complete.
I always said that as soon as I finished stage one, I would release my paintings into the universe, trusting that they would find their new forever homes, and come next month this is what is happening.
October 25th (unless you’re a community member) is when the LilliBean Designs Oracle collection drops.
