WANDERING STAR

Today I am share the third of 5 paintings created on wooden disks.

Last year I bought five large round wooden disks from our local hardware shop. At the time I didn’t really have a plan, but I was also slightly enamoured with wreaths, and starting to follow the  moon phases.

Earlier this year I found these disks hiding behind some canvases and decided it was time to create something with them.

I have already shared with here Crystal Wreath and Gilded Cage. (Crystal Wreath found her forever home just recently!)

Today I want to share with you Wandering Star.

Portishead was a band that defined my young adulthood and to this day I only have to listen to the open bars of their songs and I am transported to a different time.

During the creation of this painting I kept humming their song Wandering Star. (One of my favourites) and so this painting became Wandering Star!

W A N D E R I N G S T A R

Doubled up inside
Take a while to shed my grief
Always doubled up inside
Taunted, cruel

Wandering Stars, for whom it is reserved,
The blackness of darkness forever.

                           ~Portishead
Like a lot of my paintings recently I made a time lapse video of the entire process – which you can watch by clicking here (or on the image below)

I would love to know what you think!!

From my whimsy world to yours!
