On the Twelfth Day of Christmas

ON THE TWELFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS…

WE LAID SOME FAIRY TRAPS.

When the girls were little and they were obsessed with all things fairy and tinker bell was the movie du jour, Mac thought of this brilliant idea to do with the kids on Christmas Eve.

Partly to spread the magic around over the whole Christmas period but also as a way to keep the stupidly excited children occupied for just a little bit and away from the Christmas tree that is heaving with presents.

Mac thought of setting Fairy traps in the back yard, that on sunset would either trap a fairy or the fairies would leave little trinkets in appreciation for the beautiful traps the girls designed.

Grabbing some mason jars from draws he had the girls decorate it really simply with glow sticks and flower. Some years it gets complicated when the Nieces and Nephews are around or when the terrible trio want to write notes for the fairies (which means some one else needs to write a note back!)

As the night wears on the glow stick attract the fairies

and when the sun sets the fairies come out to play!

I’ve never managed to grab a photo of Mac creeping around the back yard putting in the treats, because I am too busy distracting the kids from the back yard, and by the time the girls head to see what fairies they’ve captured I am usually inside sorting out last minute things for tomorrow!!

What little Christmas Eve traditions do you do in your family?

Thanks for coming along on this little journey with me, I hope you’ve enjoyed the little traditions, and stories and fun things we do in the lead up to Christmas.

And from my family to your and yours thank you and I hope you have a fabulous break, a wonderful festive season and that 2020 is simply amazing!
