ON THE EIGTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS
-we made some decorations for our home
I love giving our decorations a little home made touch. And it is something that I love to do when all the markets are done and there is some spare time at night.
Over the years I have made bunting and decorations for our tree as well as wreaths for our door and a succulent Christmas tree for our table. (I will share those with you another time!)
And while I love making these little projects, the terrible trio also love making them too, so if you have children/ grand children around this may be an ideal way to keep them occupied while you are busy sorting out other things for the big day!
Today I have a couple of projects and downloads for you which will take you to different sheets which you can make with as you want.
FELT ORNAMENTS
There are literally thousands of patterns and ideas for felt/ hand sewn decorations, but I love my little deer and owl. I also made letter ornaments with the first letter of all our names.
If you would like to make your own owl and deer I have patterns and instructions for you to download! Just click on the image to download the pdfs!
WOODEN ORNAMENTS
You can make these as simple or as decorative as you want. You can purchase wooden disks from craft shops (like spotlight) and some hard wear stores (like bunnings) and you are not limited to just circles – there are all kinds of shapes.
To keep it simple, choose a base colour (black like above or pink like below) and paint your disk.
Use a contrasting coloured permanent marker, posca pen, etc. write a little Christmas word or quote on the disk.
You can drill a hole and thread some string or glue a magnet on the back or coat it in a varnish to use as a coaster.
PAPER DECORATIONS
Over the years, the girls and I have made numerous decorations with paper.
You can print these off on normal paper or thicker card stock, or even decoupage them onto a wooden disk.
Decorate them how ever you wish.
Paint, markers, pencils, glitter etc.
You can use them how ever you want to – check out this angel bunting from a few years ago that the girls and I made (Instructions are here.)
There is no limit as to the ways you could use these downloads, but make sure you share with me how you used them, because I love to see how creative ideas inspire better and bigger ideas!

Tomorrow it’s a huge traditional day where we make something that like the rum balls you either love or hate, and every one has a very secret recipe!
