ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS
– WE GO HUNTING FOR THE BEST LIGHT DISPLAY
I remember when I was little we were having Christmas with my Grandparents in Newcastle and one evening we all pilled into the car and headed to a suburb about half and hour away from their house.
You see there was this one street in particular where every single house had decorated their home with Christmas lights.
And not only lights but whole displays of Christmas scenes – the nativity, santa and the six white boomers, I remember a Peanuts display.
I remember it being magical and fascinating and a fabulous idea.
Now some of the displays are huge big budget stunners, some set to music, some a magical Christmas wonderland with bigger electricity bills too!
The Terrible trio love to go Christmas light hunting. And it has become a huge tradition in our family – after the carols and after the Christmas dinners with friends and family we will often go for a little drive and check out the lights around our home town.
When the girls were little, it was a real treasure hunt to find the lights but these days all you have to do is join your local Christmas Lights facebook group and they will have all the information you need to find the very best light displays!
Our home isn’t overly decorated with lights – we have a couple of strings of pretty stars and the like, which will more than likely stay in our tree until next year! But every year no matter where we are having Christmas we go for a drive to see the lights and try and decide which ones are our favourite.
TOMORROW pop back for our favourite thing to do on the first day of the holidays!
DAY ONE | DAY TWO | DAY THREE | DAY FOUR | DAY FIVE
P.S The 12 days of Christmas is a collection of stories and traditions and fun things that we do in Casa da Mac in the lead up to Christmas. Pop back tomorrow for another post!!
