THE BIRDHOUSES.

Pinterest has a lot to answer for. In fact I can almost 100% blame pinterest for the reason I have the ‘Half-Done’ projects.

Yeah pinterest certainly has a lot to answer for… ☺️

So one day I was cruising on Pinterest and I saw this very cute birdhouse, that had be decorated like a tiny bedroom – complete with chair and all, and that was stuck it on a window so you could see birds build a nest, and in theory hatch baby birds – all of which we could actually see through the clear back of the bird house.

SOLD

So after searching online for an hour for some bird houses you could see in, I finally found some.

I mean look at that picture – the smiling kid, the bird in the birdhouse, it looked like a quaint birdhouse.

And in my delusions I thought I would wall paper the inside with a pretty design, maybe make my own bed room furniture – a la the fairy garden tutorials in my pinterest boards (AGAIN with the pinterest!!)

And then they finally arrived……and then sat on my studio desk gathering dust for the next 6 months.

(and after almost weekly dust storms in the summer can I say there was a very thick layer of dust! )

Anyway when I pulled them out this month, I decided to apply the K.I.S.S method to this half-done project (i.e. keep it simply stupid!)

So I scrapped the waterproof material/ paper that I thought to use in the interior and then I just used some of my acrylic paint to add colour.

I totally scrapped the hand making of furniture for the interior and just added some nesting material.

And to be honest, although the patterned paper and furniture would be super cute, it was unlikely to entice the wrens to nest in it.

So I kept it simple.

Our wrens are so bold that they will pop up and sit on your foot if you are still enough, and I often see them jump into our bed room when I leave the door open!

So I really hope that one day this spring I will see a bird venture into our houses and one day nest, but for now I will just watch them in the Camellia trees!

Maybe I should buy some bird seed to entice them a little more!

HALF-DONE PROJECT SEPTEMBER

The half-done project I have chosen for next month has something to do with these beautiful lyrebird feathers that my gorgeous nephews found and collected for me. For the last three years they have just lived on my studio wall fixed with blue tack. So it is definitely time to finish that project.
