Journalling and Art [july 2019]

JULY 2019

It seemed logical for me to combine my love of Bullet Journalling, my love of Hand Lettering and my love of mixed media to create a monthly spread that I would use to both keep me on track and to inspire me to create and play.

I have had this on my to-do list for a while now, with the thought of sharing my page with my newsletter gang, which they could down load and print off, or use as a screen saver but before I delved into another project that I would have to complete every month, I knew I needed a few rules before I started.

I decided that:
1. it couldn’t take up more than and hour or two to make.
2. it had to be simple so that others could add to their pages – so ‘white’ space was a must, and
3. I had to use things I had lying around the studio – no specially designed items that I spent hours making in my monthly journal pages.

So I used an art journal that I had painted a grey page in (I can’t even tell you why I did that!), my usual scraps of mixed media paper, some washi tape that had been stuck to my desk from another project, and a test page from the winter stickers I made last month.

It felt a bit like Speed-Art (you know like speed-dating but with out the awkward conversations!) and really loved the process. Sometimes I can be bogged down in the process of a painting, that this was really fun and different for me!

If you are interested in having a copy an August Journal Page to download for yourself pop over and join the rest of the gang on the LilliBean Snippets email group.
