Around the time that I finished Llama’s Kiss I found a long ago stashed poster that I had bought that was a study of butterflies and moths. I had bought this specifically to be used in my mixed media work, but in the studio move I had placed it somewhere ‘safe’ only to be found at the very back of a draw, while I was searching for a roll of wrapping paper!
At the same time, I was doing a massive search through all my sketch books to try and find some inspiration, and I found a drawing I had done when we were on a recent holiday by the beach.
And that is how ARIA was conceived.

She has such a sweet voice I imagined that when she spoke she would sound like she was singing so that that’s how I ended up naming her.
